Taxonomic Research at Beetle Collections Grant
The Coleopterists Society announces a new grant to support travel to collections to conduct beetle taxonomic research. The objective of this travel is to support research needed for the completion of taxonomic reviews, revisions, and monographs, especially for researchers who are under-funded. The award is meant to subsidize travel costs.
Eligibility
Must be a member in good standing of The Coleopterists Society.
Award
Three awards of a maximum of 2,000 USD each will be made yearly. Typical expenses that may be paid from these grants include airfare, lodging, and meals. Priority will be given to applications for future travel.
Applications
Include:
- A short project description and explicit statement of research goals, not to exceed two pages. This section should address the following topics:
– How the award will benefit the applicant and the collection(s) visited.
– Deliverables or specific outputs from the project. - Proposed itinerary.
- Budget.
- Curriculum vitae, not to exceed two pages.
- A letter of support from a colleague who is knowledgeable on the specific taxonomic group, explaining the importance of the research.
- An email confirming availability of the collection to host the visit (from each collection to be visited).
Applications will be assessed based on their feasibility, deliverables, and impact on the specific beetle taxon and/or coleopterology in general.
