The Coleopterists Society is pleased to announce that Sara Rivera and Luiz Felipe Lima da Silveira were awarded the 2022 Ross Taylor Bell and Joyce Rockenbach Bell Research Grant for their project titled “Comprehensive Phylogeny of the Lampyrid Subfamily Photurinae and Implications for the Evolution of Predatory Fireflies”. This award is being used to conduct fieldwork in Napo Province, Ecuador, and to visit the entomological collections at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador to study the lampyrid genus Vesta (Laporte 1833) and its possible relationship to the predatory fireflies in the Photurinae subfamily.
We would like to thank Joyce Bell for making this grant possible with her generous donation to The Coleopterists Society in memory of her husband, Ross Bell. This grant was awarded on April 23rd, 2022, which would have been Ross’s 93rd birthday.
